Acrylic on canvas
24”x20” Acrylic on Canvas, June 2022
Based on the sculpture Laocoön and His Sons, this painting takes a look at misinterpretation as did the original marble sculpture. Just as the sculpture has a story of misinterpretation at many levels, the artist believes that the context and relevance of a piece is more important than the meaning, which an artist can work on for years. No matter how hard an artist may try, the meaning of a piece is just a superficial quality and an artist’s intentions can be easily disregarded as something else.
